The New Decade Trends
As we say goodbye to one year, we also bid farewell to the fashion of the past seasons. While some key pieces will stay forever stylish, there are plenty of new accessories that will be worn by everyone in the new decade. When the temperature rises and falls, these pieces will stand the test of time and will be essential additions to your wardrobe. From slouchy handbags to padded headbands, here are seven accessory trends we’ll wear in 2020.
1. Square Toe Strappy Sandals
As trends come and go, one will always remain in style: a sleek pair of sandals. This season, there has been a myriad of square toe shoes making the rounds, and for a good reason. This flattering design, with a strappy finish, elongates the legs and creates a unique silhouette for any outfit you’re wearing. Although best worn in the warmer months, feel free to add a pair of sheer tights or socks with your footwear to up the ante. Choose from bright shades to add life to your ensemble, or keep it classic with traditional colors like white, black, or brown.
2. Padded Headbands
Turn every bad hair day into a good one with the trending padded headbands. It isn’t anything new, but Prada helped make them hot again this year. Channeling your inner Blair Waldorf, these accessories look fantastic in the center of the head or pushed back to keep the locks out of your face. Keep it simple by incorporating an everyday accessory with an intricate ensemble, or take it one step further by wearing it covered in embellishments. There are so many ways you can wear this gorgeous item, so have fun with it!
3. Multi-color Bags
Liven up any outfit with one of these trending multi-color bags. Unlike previous years, this bright design offers more than two shades – think blue, red, green, and yellow simultaneously. Make a blank canvas of an outfit into something astonishing – this accessory makes you feel like you’re walking around with a piece of modern art on you at all times.
4.Bucket Hats
Bucket hats are big once again. Yes, this quintessential '90s accessory has hit peak fashionability for another time. So, if you’re after a new and stylish way to shield your face from the sun, be sure to add this item to your cart immediately. For extra outfit points, try choosing one in a classic print, such as checks, or a striking color, like neon orange. Then, style it as you wish. Whether you want to pair your bucket hat with overalls or wide-leg pants and a blazer is up to you.
5.Tassels and Fringe Earrings
While frilly and frayed tassels have been around for seasons, the look of this season is a bit more sophisticated in metallics and other on-trend materials. You can wear them with so many different outfits to add a pop of color and trendy style. Earrings with some volume are also an excellent way to balance a long face as well as pairing long earrings with short hair is also a winning combination. Earrings with plenty of visual interest are a great way to , or add color to monotone looks. We'd wear these trendy stunners with everything from a black t-shirt and jeans, to a pink pastel pantsuit this season.
6.Belt Bags
I’m not saying how I know this, but if you refer to one of these as a “fanny pack” in front of your daughter, she might roll her eyes. This trend is still going strong, but even if you’re wearing a Gucci belt bag, don’t wear it for a dressy event! If you like this trend and you want to maximize versatility, look for a belt bag with a removable belt and a small hand-held strap as well.
7.Bedazzled Hair Pins and Scrunchies
If there were ever a time to bedazzle your hair, it's here and now. We may have previously declared 2020 to be the year of bangs and lived-in updos, but when it comes to hairstyles, dressing up your 'do with something is all the range in the accessories category. Unsurprisingly, the leading accessory trend is one that's centered in the health of your hair: Compared to this same time period in 2019, searches for "silk scrunchies" have increased by a 92 percent leap in the last three months. Similarly, "silk bows" have also piqued shoppers' interest — searches for those have jumped by 7 percent.
